According to Lauren Conrad’s blog and her team of beauty experts, there is a proper way to wash and conditioner your hair! News flash, many of us are doing it wrong.
Let’s start with the wash, shampoo is meant to wash your scalp not the individual strands of hair. In order to do this you need to make sure that you are saturating your scalp and focusing the product on the roots of your hair. Take the time to give yourself a nice scalp massage; if done properly, you will deep clean your scalp. The cleaner your scalp is, the fewer times you will need to wash it. Be conservative with the amount of product that you use, you don’t need much, just enough to cover your scalp.
As far as conditioners go, think in the opposite direction! Conditioner is meant to cover the bottom two-thirds of your hair and it will be able to work its magic if you leave it in for up to two minutes. Be sure to rinse throughly so that you don’t get build up, but if you do, you can always add a clarifying shampoo to your routine once a month.
