Empowering our Sisters

Dress for Success 2017We were excited and honored to be involved in the 12th Annual Sisterhood: A Dress for Success Wichita event! This always festive fashion show took place on Saturday, June 11 at the new Hudson venue space at 508 S. Commerce to raise money and awareness for Dress for Success. We have supported this event every year because we love the mission of Dress for Success: to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

This event featured Dress for Success clients and community models, along with several “Recycle the Runway” outfits, created by local designers out of donated clothing. Of course, there were cocktails, brunch, raffles, giveaways and lots of fun! Women who have had services from Dress for Success Wichita and community models were selected by the planning committee and received makeovers before and during the event. Community models were nominated and chosen based on their contributions to women’s empowerment in the Wichita community. During the program we learned about Dress for Success clients’ success stories and struggles, and the difference being part of this program has made in these women’s’ lives.

Our model was Julie Samaniego, who is a public favorite and an enthusiastic advocate for families in our community. Olivia Bell and Chelsea Solberger, from our east location gave Julie her fabulous new ‘do and Robin Wolfe applied her makeup for the finishing touch. What fun it is to empower women with this fabulous event!
